Do we live as if Jesus were in the same room as us? Would you watch that TV show, or listen to that music with Jesus? What about that funny joke you just learned and you just have to go tell it to your buddies; would you tell it to Jesus? Ezekiel 33:31 reminds me of myself and so many others that I know. We express our ever so passionate love for Jesus through our mouths, but do we live our lives like He is standing next to us? For some odd reason, we think He’s blind and doesn’t see our actions, or what is written on our hearts. Jesus sees what we covet. There are a lot of things we could covet. We covet cars, dirt bikes, co-workers’ lunch, and that giant buck your neighbor just shot. I think that the last one applies more to us in central PA than even coveting your neighbor’s wife! At least it does for me.
That being said, everyday we wake up, we need to live for Jesus not just on Sunday mornings, but each day. If you’re married, hold each other accountable. If you’re not sure if what each other is doing is okay with Jesus, just simply ask one another if it glorifies God. You’ll either feel one of two ways. You’ll feel conviction, like if Jesus were here right now, that’s not what I would be doing. Or, you’ll feel exonerated, like Jesus is saying go ahead!
So tomorrow when you wake up, pray and figure out what in your life doesn’t glorify God, and get rid of it. A couple years ago, I got rid of something that in no way glorified God, and my life is so much better in God’s hands than it ever was, or could be, on my own.
