I am an American citizen by birth and the grace of God. I love my country and those that don’t, should seek another. America is home, mom, baseball and apple pie! What I see today breaks my heart. Our society is in a state of moral declension. The home of the brave and land of the free is being chiseled away by bleeding heart liberals and humanists. Folk don’t respect the rights of others, as it used to be, but are more inclined to seek their own. Meanwhile, they don’t care what it may do to us.
We, as a country, are a melting pot of nations. This is what made America great. Philadelphia is unique in that they have many different ‘neighborhoods’. If a person hails from Port Richmond- they usually are Polish. If South Philly- Italian and so forth. They all came to this land and assimilated into our culture; forsaking their own native soil. Today our immigrants want to bring their culture here and change us! I am tired of having to choose my language at Weis’ market when I check out. My people were from Europe: but we declare we are Americans. Please don’t get me wrong, there is nothing wrong with legal immigration and a benefit is the cuisine they carry to this country! But you are either American or not!
The same holds true with Christians. We know our citizenship is in Heaven, but for now we hold American citizenship. As the song goes, this world is not my home…. Not only are the citizens of this country watered-down Americans, but so is Christianity. Let’s look at Titus 3:1,2 “Put them in mind to be subject to principalities and powers, to obey magistrates, to be ready to every good work, To speak evil of no man, to be no brawlers, but gentle, shewing all meekness unto all men. So as not to offend.” I’ll use myself as an example. Have I ever spoke evil of any man? That answer is between me and God, and He knows I have. Have I always been gentle? No! We must remember what verse 3 reads, “For we ourselves also were sometimes foolish, disobedient, deceived, serving divers lusts and pleasures, living in malice and envy, hateful, and hating one another.” Guilty of being a watered-down Christian your Honor!
So, I flunked my Christian citizenry test, but does that mean I will lose my dual citizenship? God says, “But after that the kindness and love of God our Saviour toward man appeared, Not by works of righteousness which we have done, but according to his mercy he saved us, by the washing of regeneration, and renewing of the Holy Ghost; Which he shed on us abundantly through Jesus Christ our Saviour; That being justified by his grace, we should be made heirs according to the hope of eternal life. This is a faithful saying, and these things I will that thou affirm constantly, that they which have believed in God might be careful to maintain good works. These things are good and profitable unto men” (Titus 3:4-8). What I deserve and what I get are two different things!
