We explore how our human tendency to evaluate “good” through our own standards can lead us astray from true godliness. When we encounter anything, even morally neutral things like music or institutions, they become either moral or immoral based on how we interact with them. We often evaluate things based on their function or utility in our lives, but when we carry this assessment into the spiritual realm, we risk reducing God to our human standards of “good.” This diminishes His true nature and glory. No amount of good works can earn eternal life. At creation, when man rebelled against God, everything was lost, and there’s no human effort that can reclaim it. It’s not about accumulating enough good deeds - it’s about faith. When we recognize that true goodness belongs to God alone, we can stop trying to achieve it through our own efforts. Instead, we allow the Holy Spirit to work through us, walking in spiritual liberty rather than legalistic goodness. The path to genuine godliness comes through understanding that our best efforts fall infinitely short of God’s perfection. Only by yielding to God’s work in us can we experience true transformation and worth.
