Satan’s Snakes

Satan’s Snakes

“Both prophet and priest are profane; yea, in my house I have found their wickedness saith the Lord.” (Jeremiah 23:11). Similar words to profane are “corrupt” and “poison.” When I think of those kinds of false teachers or pastors and priests, I picture Grima Wormtongue from “The Lord of the Rings.” These are people you cannot believe anything that they say from the second they open their mouths. False prophets are here today just as much as they were back in Jeremiah’s day, and throughout all of scripture. So the question for us as Christians is, how do we identify these cunning snakes that serve Satan in the form as false prophets?

We can’t  be lazy with God’s Holy Word. We have to read scripture and memorize verses. In Matthew 4:4 Jesus says,”Man shall not live by bread alone, but by every word that proceedeth out of the mouth of God.” So read the Bible and use it as a weapon against the snakes that preach false doctrine. Also, we have to know the Bible better than these false priests because they are very good at testing God’s Word. Another weapon I think would be beneficial to use is conviction. If you’re a member of a church, and have been there for some time and have never been convicted, it’s time to change your church. In order to be gifted salvation you must have a knowledge of how bad a sinner you are. That being said, your false pastor isn’t preaching directly from the Bible. Yes, God is love, but He is so much more than that, so if you’re finding that each message you hear is fluffed up in love, you probably aren’t hearing the truth.

“I believe that the most damnable thing a man can do is to preach the gospel merely as an actor and turn the worship of God into a kind of theatrical performance.” Charles Spurgeon
